Ardnahoe will be the ninth distillery on the famous Isle of Islay when it opens its doors soon. Ardnahoe will distill a classic peated style of Islay malt, using the finest barley and water from the depths of Loch Ardnahoe itself. The distillery is hoping to begin the distilling process soon and their whisky will follow in the future.

Bowmore Distillery was officialy established in 1779 and is Islay’s oldest distillery. The distillery has retained its own floor maltings which account for 40% of its needs and when mixed with malt from the mainland results in a medium peated spirit. Each and every bottle of Bowmore single malt Scotch whisky has been shaped by the exquisite flavours of our carefully selected oak casks, rounded by the Hebridean air, and given character by the slow passage of time.

Bunnahabhain Distillery was established in 1883 and stands at the mouth of the Margadale Spring on the shores of the Sound of Islay. Their first Single Malt was released in 1979, a 12 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. In 2010 they returned to a more traditional whisky techniques by producing their Whiskies non-chillfiltered, with a natural colour; just as they had been in the past.

Caol Ila Distillery was built in 1846 and is the largest of the distilleries on the island of Islay. Caol Ila's distillery character manages to combine a fresh pear note, grassiness, a hint of juniper with distinct notes of the seashore – lobster shells, crab creels and gentle smoke.

Lagavulin Distillery was officially founded in 1816. Lagavulin is almost exclusively matured in ex-bourbon casks, meaning its robust, uncompromising smoke and salted-fish character and flavour is clear. Lagavulin whiskies are made with water from the Solan Lochs and the peat comes from the extensive peat bogs in the west of the island.
