About Isle of Mull Traditional Farmhouse Cheese
A hearty, full-flavoured Scottish Cheddar, Isle of Mull is dry in texture with flavours that are upfront, richly savoury and boozy. Made with raw cow's milk and animal rennet. Clothbound with lard.
Matured for 5-12 months (depending on the season). Contains: unpasteurised milk, vegetarian renet and sea salt. After being turned out the moulds the cheeses are trimmed then bound in traditional cloth.
Calon Wen cheese range was launched at the Royal Welsh show in 2010 and has two flavours, a Mellow Creamy Cheddar which is great for the family and an Extra Mature Cheddar for a more mature taste! The Extra mature Cheddar also won two stars at the Great Taste Awards 2011.
The only Cheddar made in Cheddar. Matured for at least 22 months, the full potential of The Cheddar Gorge Cheddar Company's classic authentic Cheddar Cheese has been reached. This is true ‘Vintage’ Cheddar. Extending the maturing time allows the cheese to develop more depth and breadth of flavour, resulting in a more vibrant, nutty cheddar with very low lactose (<0.1%).
