The first legal distillery on the Isle of Raasay in northwest Scotland began distilling in September 2017. They are handcrafting the first Isle of Raasay single malt in Scotch whisky history with water sourced from a Celtic well deep beneath the distillery. Their first expression that will be bottled is heavily peated, it has been matured in first fill bourbon barrels and then finished in Bordeaux red wine casks and matured on the island for a final year. It will be ready towards the end of 2020, and is avalible to pre-order now.
